Domestic Honeymoons - Key West Style

With so many brides looking for domestic travel options, Florida is a huge hit for honeymoon destinations. When you think of Florida, Key West tops the list of towns on most visitors lists. Since Florida is located in the subtropics, the weather is beautiful all year long. Key West is known for the most
gorgeous sunsets, sandy beaches, history, restaurants, and culture, that can be experienced right here in the United States.
Key West itself is a quant Island with about 4 square miles of fun in the sun. You can visit the southernmost point of the United States and take a photo with the buoy replica that stands at this point since 1983. Havana Cuba is located just about 90 miles from this famous landmark. Duval Street is the center of all the action in Key West. It’s dotted with numerous restaurants, shops, and eateries. Key West is known for its beautiful buildings and homes, many being former residences of ship captains.
One of the best pastimes in Key West is food!. If your thinking causal and fun then make sure you visit the Rum Bar or Sloppy Joes. Green Parrot is also a fun spot and favorite of many Key West goers with its live music. If your looking for some elegant options you will surely want to indulge at Hot Tin Roof or take a complimentary ferry ride to the famous Latitudes restaurant. Watch the sunset times and arrive on the island at least 30 minutes before.
All Aboard! A fun way to see an overview of Key West is to hop on their famous Conch Train and take a tour. Make this first on your list so you can get a lay of the land and see all that Key West has to offer. If Butterflies are your fancy then make sure you head over to The Butterfly Conservatory. Butterflies, birds, waterfalls, and tropical foliage will make you feel like you are in the Caribbean. Heck, you almost are! And make sure you plan a visit to see all the marine creatures in the Aquarium at the end of Duval Street.
Take a stroll through Key West's iconic homes in Old Town and make sure you visit the famous residences such as Little White House, The Ernest Hemingway home and the Tennessee Williams house. At 322 Duval St, you can see the “Oldest House”. This house was built in 1829 and was the home of Captain Francis Watlington and his bride Emeline. They raised their nine daughters in this home. Audubon House another beautiful home that is open for tours. This home was also owned by a Captain. Captain John Geiger and his family-owned this home for over 120 years.
Stunning sunsets and sailboats must be seen at the historic Mallory Square. Visit the vendors for artwork, jewelry, and more as the street performers amaze you nightly. Arrive 30 -45 minutes before sunset.
